Saturday Activities

We've had a great day! We made a castle from a kit that Madeline got for Valentines, erected a camping tent in our computer room, and had Madeline's buddies over for a play date. Good day all around!

Field Trip to Explorium

Madeline's school had a field trip today to the Explorium in Lexington. We had a really wonderful time! They had a model of a river with running water which had a Lock and a Dam on it. Madeline bragged about her Daddy working on one of those. There was a bubble room - and Madeline made the biggest bubbles ever, which I tried very hard to get a picture of, but invariably the bubbles popped before the picture snapped. Another room was dark, and a light flashed - then you could see your shadow on the wall, so Madeline and I made silly poses and laughed. All of the Moms were cringing b/c there was a lighted mirror that you looked into and it showed where you had damaged skin from the sun. The kid's faces looked pink and the Mom's faces looked purple. It was great to take the day off and spend time with her!

The little girl that Madeline is hugging on in the pictures is Kennedy, one of her little buddies that she went to Martha's with. It is amazing how much those girls still love each other! We'll see what happens as they grow, but so far Martha's girls seem to be friends for life :-)

We don't have a lot planned for the rest of the week-end - I think it is going to rain!

Lent

You guys are right, I said I'd give up caffeine, so I should give up caffeine! I was just really tired this week, and had a very hard time giving it up! I am going to continue to try to do it :-)

OK, so, I promised that I would give up all caffeine (which includes Chocolate of course) for Lent two days ago, except I said that medicinal caffeine was OK (like Excedrin Migraine). Now I am thinking that my daily Diet Pepsi is Medicinal Caffeine, as it is what I have to have to make it through the day. Giving up chocolate is a big sacrifice, is it not? :-) What do you guys think?

I know, I have very little self discipline!!!

On My Mind

What's on my mind tonight?

1) Taxes - yucko! I've been collecting the information needed to file. I just thought of another thing - auto taxes paid.... where are those receipts?

2) Lost - Loving the 2nd half of the season so much that I have just signed up for two podcasts on itunes so I can listen all about it when it is not Wednesday at 10:00 pm

3) itunes - still loving it, and having just discovered podcasts, it's much cheaper now!

4) Work - hate it when thoughts of it creep into my few minutes of free time!

5) The Devil In the White City - the book I'm reading now - I'm not far enough into it to have an opinion

6) Steven's friend Tony - he's moved to Germany, and is doing a blog that we have been keeping track of

7) New babies & friends who are pregnant - seems like everyone is doing it! (oops, didn't mean to make a funny there ;-)

8) Madeline's field trip - am taking the day off Friday to go on a field trip to Lexington with her. I'll try my hardest to remember to take my camera this time!

9) Lent - I have decided to give up caffeine for Lent (which means no cokes or chocolate - how will I survive?)

10) Love - loving my sweeties, Steven who is feeling better after finally finding a decent doc; and Madeline, who is getting bigger and smarter every single day

11) My parents - how did I make it here before they moved here? Madeline stayed with Mom this afternoon after she went to the eye doc and had her eyes dilated (I forgot that Dr. Woody would do that)

There you go, in no particular order. Now you know what's on my mind! What's on yours?

2007 Daytona 500

As you know, we love Nascar around here. The 2007 season has begun, with a very exciting Daytona 500 and a heartbreak finish. Should Kevin Harvick have thrown the race to let Mark Martin win - no way in my opinion, even though I can't stand Kevin Harvick and wanted Martin to win. It promises to be a great season!

Valentine's Day

We had a great Valentine's Day! Steven sent me some absolutely beautiful roses, which once again reminded me how wonderful he is to me :-) Madeline and I went to Windsor Gardens and she sang songs with the rest of her church group and then delivered Valentines to the residents. She said "I feel sorry for them because they are so old and alone here with no presents", so I think it was a great experience for her. I, of course, did not have my camera, which I seem to do at special moments like that! I am hoping to get a copy of Margaret's video, so if I get that I will share it here. Then we came home and opened some presents. The one you see here is Mom and Dad's gift. All in all it was a great day. Now I need to be working, but I am procrastinating as usual! Hope you had a great day!

Anti Superbowl

Just finished our annual anti superbowl party, and it was really fun! We had a good crowd - let's see, it was Johnny and Jeanine, Margaret Mary, Sean and Margaret Roby, Joe and Sarah, Kendra and Brennan, Jennifer and Neal, Felix, Steven and I, and all of the kiddos - quite a crowd! We had all of the normal party food, plus Rebecca's buffalo chicken dip (which was a big hit). We did watch some football, but it didn't take over the party. I got some good pictures, but will have to add those later, when my brain isn't fried! Oh yeah, Madeline and the kids got to make a huge mess in her room, which she thought was completely great. Check back for pictures of that :-)

Fun Play Day!

What a busy Saturday I have had! This morning Madeline got her hair cut then she played with her friend Buckley at her house for 3 hours, then at our house for 3 hours. They had a fabulous time playing with all of Madeline's toy, and then cutting play doh hair for about an hour while I cringed about all of the play doh getting on the floor (I did not stop them from doing it - I just cleaned it whenthey got done). The girls were having such a big time that I didn't even think to take a picture, so you only get the report here :-( Madeline and I made cup cakes and had dinner, then she went to play with her friends Lauren and Campbell, so she was one tired girl when she went to bed! I picked up the Golden Gate Bridge print which we got framed, so once I get that on the wall maybe I'll post a pic. Tomorrow it is the annual anti superbowl party, and I will try to remember to get pictures!
