Labor Day

We had a great time celebrating the end of summer this week-end... we spent time on London with family, including my niece Sophia, who is here in Kentucky while her parents are away in China adopting her new little sister Claire. We've had a great time doing some extra bonding with Sophia :-) Sophs misses her parents for sure, but I think she is enjoying herself just the same. I haven't spent that much hands on time with a two year old in a while, but I am up to the challenge! It did hinder my ability to take photos though!

Sophia, Madeline and I went to my friend's farm today to see her cows and animals. Sophia was a bit timid around the cows, but I think she really enjoyed it because she was completely enthusiastic talking about them as we drove away.

We topped off the day with ice cream - all kiddos love that!

Where have I been?

You may be wondering where I have been... well, since my last post school and soccer season started, along with work and the excitement our family has experienced due to my Sister's adoption. I've been one busy Mama!

Third grade has started out wonderfully, Madeline has been loving her teacher, who has been teaching 3rd grade for FORTY years! She is wonderful with the kids, and her high expectations have encouraged Madeline to work hard. One of her requirements is that the kids do 20 (yes I wrote 20) book reports per year. Eight of them have to be what she calls a "creative" book report. Madeline finished her second one tonight after about 4 hours of work. I must say she was a hard little worker, and did not require redirection at all. Here is a picture of her completed work, which she is really proud of!

The other thing I've been doing is hanging out at the soccer field. Madeline loves soccer, and is playing in two different leagues. I have a great time seeing her shine out there. I do joke sometimes that I should get a camper to live in out there, but it is all worth it!
